In Memorandum... 9II

Twenty-five years have passed. I can only honour the spirits who once walked in this world and their lives taken by an evil. Through my own musical path, I wrote this anthem "America" on September 12, 2001. Unplugged, my raw vocal, I re-recorded this song in 2025... "Let their legacy resonate in every note and inspire the continuous journey of sound and soul, ensuring timeless lives in music to remain eternal and for hate to fade away..."

Behind the Songs...
Every song has a story behind it. This is my storybook. As I am a private person, I am raw and open in my songwriting. With no regrets, I am not ashamed of journey past - it is about who I am in the present...
1. Emerald Eyes
This is my own confession. It was easy to be hynotised, to fall deep into the world of the dance circuit (aka, raves) releasing your every inhibition, feeling invincible. The tattoo on my arm (in the 'About' page photos) was after a Circuit Party. Boy George (aka Culture Club) had finished spinning for an event. ABBA, "The Visitors" was DJ'd somewhere in the night. I saw a tattoo shop and the result is on my arm; the chess crown.
2. (This Time) Goodbye
This is a dance version from a powerful ballad I wrote intended for a second album release in 2002. There is nothing hidden in these lyrics. It is very hard to walk away from anything toxic. The music in this song opens up the painful pours as you tilt your world back in sync on the dance floor. I love this dance version. Thomas keeping my piano track; you can hear the ABBA sound.Â
3. Miami Nights
Dedicated to the city that never sleeps. The 24/7 South Beach (SOBE) scene when every night comes alive. Living in SOBE can make for very chaotic relationships. There were no rules; under the neon lights never say 'exclusive'. Expecting the unexpected is only to expect you will be caught somewhere on the beaten path. Thomas adding the saxophone gives the song a vibrant romantic boost; reminding me of Rindy Ross of Quarterflash, with her saxophone solos.
4. Invite-Moi, Chez Toi
Aka; Invite Me Over or Come On Over. I just could not find the right title for this very quirky song. When I originally tracked it, the bass and fender piano had a blues emphasis in the song. Thomas' arrangement now makes it a favourite from the original track; keeping it intriguing and fun. It is a naughty and cheeky song... an ordinary day out living in SOBE; with no expectations and someone's eye catches you; they send over a telephone number. It was just 'the way' in a fast melting pot, and before social media and Apps.Â
5. I Am Alive
One of my earliest compositions before the songs flowed out. I wrote this on a friends little upright piano (photo in 'About' page) in 1994 before I had my Yamaha keyboard. I saw ABBA at Wembley Arena in 1979, Agnetha Fältskog surprised us with her original song, on piano. One year later, I saw the film, 'FAME' with Irene Cara on piano... I wanted both moments. Ballads are their own therapy. Heartbreak is inevitable, always inspiring a good song.
6. Stay With Me Tonight
The album title song, appropriately so; also intended for the original album title for the 1999 record. I have included the 1999 photo in my 'About' page. I love rock! I bought my Yamaha keyboard in 1996. This being the first song I ever tracked. It is a long 5m:30s; just like my favourite ABBA track, 'Eagle'. An impulsive song for impulsive times with a promiscuous story to tell. We thought about taking out a verse to shorten it - so glad we didn't. Thomas enhanced the song keeping my original rhythm guitar, adding one incredible guitar solo, giving the song a good rock sound.
7. Silent Partner
Raw and exposing, yet musically beautiful. A consuming song about the many taboos/hypocrisies (not mine as I am who I choose to be). To want is only to have once you are in the South Beach bubble. The green door open... only in secrecy. I will just say, 'NDA'. It becomes a lonely way of life. Even if you see each other again, it will only be for that moment; wanting in society's 'perfect world' can only be in secret. I love the melancholy suppression of the song; the deep regret, still, allowing to be consumed in a moment. The original song I added a string arrangement, taking the lead of the song. Thomas keeping a string section to deliver the sadness with an important message. This was the first song I sent to Thomas; clearly him liking the song. So here we are today; in a collaboration project meant to be.
8. One Chance (In Life)
Originally, a EDM (Euro Dance Music) instrumental experiment titled, 'Thief In The Night', based on the incredible 1984 film score by Harold Faltermeyer, 'Thief Of Hearts', and unassumingly my own parallel to this films story... All I can say, "Be careful who charms you, as their intensions are their own twisted fantasies, consuming you and never wanting to let you go". The lyrics came from another song I never recorded.
9. One By One
I love Pop Music! I love ABBA! It is because of their incredible songs I even attempted to be a songwriter. In the lyrics I use, 'Friday night'; every night in SOBE was a Friday night. So many different clubs; Paragon, The Twist, Warsaw, Level, all with a 'dance recipe' of what you are in the mood for. You dance yourself in a bubble always finding "the one"; you smile; you dance; the night is yours.
10. Forever!
The gift is music... dance music is a gift of energy and mood. Already an uplifting song from my master catalog; Thomas mastered this song perfectly. I think, the perfect way to end this record. You can hear my original piano in the new track. I wrote this song near 2000 after I left the South Beach scene for Miami Shores, a supposed calmer life change. I was working on new writing and this song was intended for a future album. I was inspired by my one love of life, I met during those chaotic years. With language challenges we were still in love. In the car we would sing, 'He's On The Phone' by Saint Entienne. Dance music will be forever in my heart as a constant memory. Today, dance music moves me in a deeper, reflecting way, always reminding me of the good energy, keeping it all in good measure.
